Design Review & Production Inspection
Prior to award of contract, the manufacturer and customer should agree on the design review and production inspections schedules contents and criteria's.
A design review is a structured and planned exercise that ensures there is a common understanding of the applicable standards and specification requirements. This process provides an invaluable opportunity to scrutinize the design in detail, ensuring that all requirements will be met using the manufacturer’s proven materials and methodology.
Design review, initiated and chaired by the Purchaser, examines the ordered power transformer in detail. It occurs after completing the electrical design and preliminary drawings, but before manufacturing begins. These reviews are usually held at the manufacturer’s plant for direct access to design and factory personnel. Both parties should agree on a reporting process.
During the design review, the manufacturer should show how their design meets operating requirements and performance guarantees. Enough information should be provided for each element to review the design's functionality and for future maintenance.
The main goals of the design review are to:
Ensure mutual understanding of technical requirements.
Verify system and project requirements, noting special areas.
Confirm design compliance with technical requirements.
Identify prototype features and assess their reliability and risks.
